The Dual Gradient cartridge combines both a pre and post filter all in one.

 

The outer layers of the Dual Gradient cartridge have a larger 20 micron pre-filter that removes sediment and dirt.

 

The inner layers have a one micron fine filter to remove or reduce contaminants such as chemicals, chloroforms, algae as well as Giardia and Cryptosporidium cysts.
