Slimline Water Purifier
These systems use the same cartridge as some other companies' 2HK-1 cartridge. The cartridge is a small sealed unit, which when installed under the sink takes up very little space, and can be mounted either vertically or horizontally. Made in America, this cartridge is a high quality system, which removes a wide range of chemicals and heavy metals, while retaining the beneficial minerals in the water. The one micron mesh filter also removes very fine dirt and sediment and is effective at removing both Giardia and Cryptosporidium cysts. The cartridge has a bacteriostatic nature which will allow the cartridge to remain hygienic for up to a maximum of 3 years. In practice, most families need to replace the cartridge every 24 to 30 months to maintain a high quality water supply. The cartridge is not recommended for tank or bore water supplies, as acid water can corrode the media used inside the cartridge. We do stock the 1-H1 cartridge for rural supplies. CBC10 Water Purifier
The CBC 10 cartridge is a top quality 'Carbon Block' Cartridge - hence CBC and is It is made in America and has been the industry leader for over 15 years. It is very effective at removing all organic chemicals and is the most effective cartridge on the market for removing THM's. It will reduce lead and aluminium sulphate, but is not as effective at removing other heavy metals as the GAC / KDF cartridge listed above. Carbon block cartridges are the most commonly used cartridge throughout the world, as they provide very effective purification and do not 'channel' the water as granulated cartridges. Note: We use a high quality cartridge casing which compared to other brands does withstand water pressure and water hammer well. A pressure limiting valve is only required where there is very high water pressure over 120 psi or 840 Kpa. Most installations do not require a pressure limiting valve.

The Matrikx CTO cartridge is a top quality American 'Carbon Block' Cartridge which is the ideal basic cartridge for the removal of chlorine, bad taste, and odour. Made from solid extruded activated carbon, it is very effective at providing high quality drinking water and is far superior in its performance to the similarly priced Granular Activated Carbon ( GAC ) cartridges or bonded Activated Coconut fibre cartridges such as the Sapphire Having a 5 micron filter, it will not remove all Giardia or Cryptosporidium cysts. Budget Water Purifier
By using parts sourced from Taiwan, we can reduce the price of this system. Although the price is more favourable, the performance and consistency of the cartridge is not as good as the American sourced cartridges. Whereas the above carbon block cartridges are solid bonded activated coal, this cartridge is made from coconut fibre. It is still very effective at improving the flavour of drinking water, but will promote the growth of bacteria within the cartridge if not replaced at least annually. Additional Notes
Water Purifiers are available in ether 'Bench Top' mounted or 'Under Bench' styles. The more popular version is the under bench as it removes clutter off the kitchen sink top.
Under Bench Purifiers are relatively easy to install for the handy person. A 12 mm hole is required through the bench top for the tap to be installed and then it is just a matter of fitting the appropriate water connection valve to the cold water supply under the sink. Please refer to the Take-Off Valve Page for options.
Note: No standard water Purifier will remove the mineral Fluoride which is sometimes added to the water to strengthen children's teeth. If you want to remove the Fluoride, please refer to our Fluoride Removal Page. PRESSURE LIMITING VALVES
If your water pressure is noticeably high, or you often hear "Water Hammer" when turning off your taps, you should definitely install one of these valves to prevent possible damage to the Purifier system and potential water leaks.
Water Hammer is a sudden burst of pressure caused by turning off a water supply quickly. Modern ceramic taps, cold water dishwashers and washing machines all close the water supply off very quickly. Because water travelling down the pipe cannot suddenly stop, the moving energy of the water temporarily increases the actual pressure in the pipeline. The pressure limiting valve absorbs this pressure and stops the high pressure from passing to the filter casing.
